Denmark: MPS plays a critical role in the whole Tracking and Tracing system of Danish Crown Horsens

09-02-2006

The MPS F-line FUM machine stamps EU stamps and client-unique, recognizable codes on the technical parts of the carcass. Especially for Horsens we modified the standard concept of stamping two carcass halves into a robot that can mark the two carcass sides while still attached. This newly developed F-line FUM innovation with shoulder guidance has a capacity of 720 pigs per hour. The F-line FUM will print on each carcass side in 5 different locations the Danish stamp of approval (as per the EU/Danish regulations). Besides these required stamps, the FUM also has the ability to print 3 flexible quality markings on each carcass side as per Horsens requirements. Therefore MPS plays a critical role in the whole Tracking and Tracing system of Horsens through the integration of one easy-to-install machine.

MPS acted as a subcontractor for SFK and sold 210 storage conveyors for carcasses and primal cuts.

The new plant was opened in May 2005, initially slaughtering 40,000 pigs a week but expecting to increase that output to between 75,000 and 80,000 by the end of 2005.
