The Saarioinen plant in the city of Jyväskylä, Finland is now in full operation following the site reconstruction that started in the spring of 2009.
The project team of Saarioinen and MPS finalised discussions in early
2008 after extensive discussions regarding the new slaughter lines. Several
recent MPS installations were visited around Europe in order to get "the
best of the best".
The need to keep current production operational required special consideration
during the design, engineering and planning.
Currently there are two slaughter lines running parallel to each other, with a production of a 220 pigs per hour and up to 40 heavy cows per hour. Both lines incorporate state-of-the-art features such as: animal friendly handling of livestock, ergonomic working positions for all employees, hygienic slaughtering specifications, automated chillers for carcasses, red offal and by products as well as fully automated carcass transport.
