New state of the art cattle slaughterhouse, built by MPS, was inaugurated in Japan last month. Although BSE has hit the Japanese Beef industry hardly, investments in new cattle lines are still carried out. Latest developments on guaranteeing maximum food safety are now part of the slaughtering process.
Stunning: In order to avoid bloodsplash of the very sensitive Wagyu cattle, a rotating knocking pen is used to stun the animals. This method promotes fast sticking in a animal friendly way.
BSE test sample taking: The cattle head is automatically railed out from the other red offal to a head lowering station. The cattle head is lowered automatically to a position, which makes sampling very easy. After taking the sample, the head is automatically returned back in the red offal conveyor again for normal inspection.
